I want to go see this play.
Sex, drugs, and classical music!
OPUS, by Michael Hollinger, is up next at TheatreWorks. The play is about an internationally famous string quartet finds both harmony and dissonance in this smart, funny, and compelling study of artistic passion.
“Musicians in the audience may recognize themselves on stage, but [Kris] Yenney [string quartet advisor for OPUS] said she thinks the play holds appeal even for people who aren’t interested in classical music. She calls the characters ‘hilarious and irreverent,’ adding, ‘it’s a finely drawn story.'” – Palo Alto Weekly
OPUS was inspired by real life! Playwright Michael Hollinger, an Oberlin-trained violist, modeled his fictional Lazara Quartet on the real Guarneri String Quartet.
