“The plot is well-developed with some genuine surprises, and Gina Martin is a stellar protagonist: smart, confident, and independent.”

Deeper Colors is about an artist (2 artists actually) Fictional characters. But here is the real thing.

Deeper Colors is about an artist (2 artists actually)  Fictional characters.  But here is the real thing.  In my book, Gina is seeking how to capture the light she sees in an 18th century artist’s paintings she ran across one day in Paris.  She finally discovers secrets (both artistic and personal) and deepens the colors not only of her paintings but in herself too.

This artist is my artist.  So many of her paintings are what I envisioned for scenes in the book. She even has a cat.  It’s almost uncanny.  Go look and enjoy.

Freedom of the artist.

“There are only two kinds of freedom in the world; the freedom of the rich and powerful, and the freedom of the artist and the monk who renounces possessions.”
—Anais Nin

I don’t seem to be able to acquire the former any more and I don’t want to be the last one, so I think I need to concentrate on the one in the middle. The artist. This includes not only a painter, or sculptor , etc. but a writer, a composer, etc.  A creator.  If artists gets rich, they are are often looked down on as commercial. And their power is not usually – at least universally -recognized until after their death. But the title does come with a certain amount of freedom.

Anyone have experience with PODs for artists and photographers

Repost of this blog entry. Any experience with any of these? Or with producing/reproducing art/photography – prints, souvenir  type artifacts – cups/mugs, t-shirts-canvas bags, etc., and so forth.  Looking for places to upload designs and/or have customers purchase. Especially looking for the place that will give the biggest commission or least cost to the artist.

Also interested in finding wholesale level producers both online and local, although I would rather not have to warehouse much.

Or…  any advice in general on trying to sell art/photography, both original and copies, etc. .

Also adding fineartamerica.com

ZAZZLE.com

CafePress.comCafePress

to the list.

Does anyone out there had any experience (or know anyone who knows anyone who has) with the following PODs for artists/photographers?

Starry Starry Night – Vincent and Don McLean

This goes with the post

Starry Starry Night – Meteor Showers in Mexico.

Vincent (Starry, Starry Night)   Sung by Don McLean

Starry, starry night

Paint your palette blue and grey

Look out on a summer’s day

With eyes that know the darkness in my soul

Shadows on the hills

Sketch the trees and daffodils

Catch the breeze and the winter chills

In colours on the snowy linen land

Now I understand

What you tried to say to me

And how you suffered for your sanity

And how you tried to set them free

They would not listen

They did not know how

Perhaps they’ll listen now

Starry, starry night

Flaming flowers that brightly blaze

Swirling clouds and violet haze

Reflect in Vincent’s eyes of china blue

Colours changing hue

Morning fields of amber grain

Weathered faces lined in pain

Are soothed beneath the artists’ loving hand

Now I understand

What you tried to say to me

And how you suffered for your sanity

And how you tried to set them free

They would not listen

They did not know how

Perhaps they’ll listen now

For they could not love you

But still your love was true

And when no hope was left inside

On that starry, starry night

You took your life as lovers often do

But I could have told you Vincent

This world was never meant for one as beautiful as you

Like the strangers that you’ve met

The ragged men in ragged clothes

The silver thorn of bloody rose

Lie crushed and broken on the virgin snow

Now I think I know

What you tried to say to me

And how you suffered for your sanity

And how you tried to set them free

They would not listen

They’re not listening still

Perhaps they never will…
