“The plot is well-developed with some genuine surprises, and Gina Martin is a stellar protagonist: smart, confident, and independent.”

Deeper Colors is about an artist (2 artists actually) Fictional characters. But here is the real thing.

Deeper Colors is about an artist (2 artists actually)  Fictional characters.  But here is the real thing.  In my book, Gina is seeking how to capture the light she sees in an 18th century artist’s paintings she ran across one day in Paris.  She finally discovers secrets (both artistic and personal) and deepens the colors not only of her paintings but in herself too.

This artist is my artist.  So many of her paintings are what I envisioned for scenes in the book. She even has a cat.  It’s almost uncanny.  Go look and enjoy.

Can I hitch a ride to Périgueux – France?

Life as a Writer and Artist

Begin the journey here.

The ‘capital’ of the Dordogne department is set towards the north of the region. Many miles from the Dordogne River, it is actually found on the Isle River.

The town has been in existence since neolithic times, and later became an important Roman centre. The town suffered a great deal in the Middle Ages through the Hundred Years War and other conflicts in the region, then had a ‘rebirth’ – and much construction in the town dates from this time – in the 16th century. From the 18th century onwards, Perigueux continues to be an important centre for the region.
